What is UpBeat’s policy for missed lessons?
Lesson must be cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled lesson time in order to receive a makeup lesson.
“No shows” or failure to notify the school within 24 hours are considered a forfeited lesson.
No more than 2 makeup lessons per session.
Makeup lessons are valid only within the session, they do not roll over into the next session.
If you know ahead of time that you cannot make a lesson, please notify our staff.
While our scheduler and Studio Manager will do their best to ensure students are most often placed with their regularly-scheduled teachers, UpBeat reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher in the event of a staff member's absence or make-up lesson.
To cancel a lesson, please email info@upbeatma.org or the Studio Manager, Sara, directly. There are no refunds on unused or cancelled lessons.
How much do weekly lessons cost?
For private lessons, it’s $35 for a 30 minute lesson and $45 for a 45 minute lesson.
For group piano, it’s $35 for a 1 hour class.
For ensembles, it’s $35 for a 1 hour rehearsal.
What age do you start offering sample lessons?
We offer sample lessons for students ages 6 and older. For younger students, success is dependent on the child's level of attention, willingness to practice, and support of a parent/guardian. The sample lesson helps confirm a good fit with the student, teacher and instrument.
How often are lessons? Can I sign up for more than one lesson per week?
Lessons are once a week. We find that to be appropriate for any age and skill level.
How many weeks of lessons do students need to commit to?
Lessons are offered in 4 quarterly sessions (Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer) that are typically 12-14 weeks each. We ask students to commit to at least one session. New clients are welcome to join at any point in the session for a prorated cost.
How do I make up a lesson?
Lessons that are cancelled with at least 24 hours notice can be rescheduled by speaking with the studio manager or your student’s instructor.
Makeup lessons not used during the current session will be considered forfeited.
How does payment work (billing policy)?
We accept the following payment methods: credit card, cash, or check (made out to UpBeat Music and Arts).
For convenience, we keep your credit card number on our secure server and can run the lesson fees when they come due.
Payment for Lessons:
For returning and current students enrolled in a session/term payment plan, payment of the initial term invoice is due before the first lesson of the session.
For returning and current students enrolled in a monthly payment plan, payment of each month’s invoice is due before the first lesson of each month (invoices are sent at least one week prior to the beginning of the month).
For students new to UpBeat or returning after at least a one-session hiatus, payment is due within 7 days of receipt of the first invoice.
Payment for Summer Camps is due upon receipt of the invoice. Payment will confirm your student’s seat in the week of camp.
Do I need to register for each session if my child is already attending UpBeat? Does enrollment roll over?
Near the end of each session, parents of current students will receive an email with a link to sign up for the following session. Your response is always necessary to continue enrollment and to confirm your time slot.
Your current time slot will be held until 2 weeks before each session, and confirmed one week prior.
