Piano Instructor

Joey Chimes is a pianist, composer, and music teacher. Having played piano since the age of seven, he graduated with distinction from Kenyon College in 2019, where he received the Gabriel A. Ben-Meir Senior Award in Music as well as the Thomas B. and Mary M. Greenslade Award in Music Performance for his senior capstone recital. 

Since coming to Chicago, Joey has performed at a variety of celebrated venues in the city, such as the Annoyance Theater, Davenport’s Piano Bar, The Hideout and Sleeping Village. He has also performed on Broadway in New York at 54 Below and at Don’t Tell Mama. He has composed music for film, dance, and theatre, and has released two albums of original solo piano music. He currently plays keyboard, organ, and synth in the band Roseloft, and accompanies for ballet classes at Hyde Park School of Dance and Visceral Dance Center.
